Tiger Salamander

In British Columbia the Tiger Salamander occurs only in the southern interior (primarily the Okanagan, Similkameen, Midway, and Grand Forks areas) and represents the northernmost part of this species’ range in Canada. Because of its small, fragmented populations and heavy habitat loss, it is federally listed as Endangered and provincially Red-listed.

Tiger Salamander

Tiger Salamanders are robust, large land salamanders, often the largest terrestrial salamander in North America. Adults typically measure about 14–25 cm (5.5–10 in) (not counting the tail) with a blotched or mottled pattern of yellow-green or pale markings on a dark green, gray or black background. They have smooth skin, stout bodies, broad heads, and long tails.
